Hugh Winterflood – real name, no gimmicks – is the grown version of the artist formally known as SkankMC. The vocalist of Hip Hop duo Skank & Shake, he has honed his craft for close to ten years, and has just taken a big step toward releasing his first solo work since ‘I'm Only Hugh, Man’ (2012).

After winning multiple NT Song of the Year Awards and supporting the majority of touring Hip Hop artists in his hometown Alice Springs, Winterflood has emerged with one of his strongest pieces of work to date. A more 'mature' Skank, out of the chrysalis stage and now sprouting wings. Or something.

The Only Way I Know is an emotionally driven hip hop ballad, dark verses are contrasted by uplifting music and an inspired chorus which features the vocals of Hugh's childhood friend and local talent Harley Myers. Written during Winterflood's quarter life crisis - the song is an ode to self-expression, determination, reflection and understanding. Branching out from duo Skank & Shake and collaborating with acclaimed Western Australian producer Rob Shaker, The Only Way I Know is our first taste of Winterflood's recent solo work and a bench mark for what's to come.
